Monday Morning Training - 30th April Please note there will be NO Monday morning training on 30th April following the STARplex Carnival on 29th April. Training will resume as normal on Monday night. Saturday 14th April 2012: 2012 Australian Age Championships - Brisbane The 2012 Australian Age Championships in Brisbane came to a close tonight. See below for results. STARplex Results | Full Results The club finished with a total of 1 silver and 3 bronze medals, thanks to James McKechnie (Silver - 200m IM, Bronze - 100m Breaststroke, 200m Breaststroke, 400m IM). James also achieved 5 PB's! Well done also to Sam Branson and Tyler Zecchini at their first national competition. Sam Branson, ranked 33rd in the 100m Backstroke, qualified for the final in 10th place with a 3 second PB of 1:05.54. Tyler Zecchini achieved a huge 12 second PB in the 400m IM and was unfortunate to miss out on the final, finishing 13th in Australia. Note: Both the 2013 Australian Swimming Championships and the 2013 Australian Age Championships will be held in Adelaide! Monday 9th April to Friday 13th April 2012: no new updates. Congratulations to James McKechnie who qualified as second reserve for the B Final tonight in the 400m IM, finishing in a PB time of 4:37.35. In his second swim, James swam close to his PB in the 100m Breaststroke, finishing joint 43rd out of 78 swimmers. Well done also to Makayla Ailmore who swam the 50m Backstroke this morning, finishing in a time of 32.35. Sunday 5th February 2012: Brighton Jetty Classic 2012 The 2012 Brighton Jetty Classic was cancelled this morning due to bad weather, rough seas and extremely poor water quality. The 2013 Brighton Jetty Classic will be held on Sunday 3rd February 2013. Saturday 4th February 2012: National Qualifying Meet - 3rd-4th March This event is a multiple chance meet - i.e. There are some events in the program twice. For example a swimmer can enter both event 4 (100m Backstroke) and event 15 (100m Backstroke). The minumum age for this event is 12years at the day of the meet. The qualifying times are the 2011-2012 'A' Grade Times. Due to facility bookings, the session times are different to what appears in the handbook. Correct session times are below: Session 1 (Saturday AM): Warm-up: 6.45am-7.45am, Start Time: 8.00am. Session 2 (Saturday PM): Warm-up: 4.45pm-5.45pm, Start Time: 6.00pm. Session 3 (Sunday AM): Warm-up: 7.15am-8.15am, Start Time: 8.30am. IMPORTANT: Entries for this meet are due to the Nominations Officer by next Saturday AM training (11th Feb) at the LATEST. There are NO online entries for this meet. Loxton Swimming Carnival 2012 Four swimmers represented STARplex at the Loxton Swimming Carnival today. From reports it sounds as though they performed brilliantly, with Lucinda Schmidt victorious in the Dash for Cash, winning $75 meaning STARplex have had back-to-back wins in the Female event - Kya Grech winning the top money last year. Results will be uploaded as soon as they are made available online. Online Entries The 2011-2012 13&U JX Pentathlon Series Meet 4 (25th February - entries close at 9am on 8th February) will be the final SwimmingSA meet to use the Online Entry system. Sunday 29th January 2012: 2012 SA State Open & Multi-Class Long Course Championships Day 3 of competition saw James McKechnie reach the 'A' Finals for the 100m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle - collecting the bronze medal in the 100m Breaststroke to add to his collection. Makayla Ailmore also made the 50m Butterfly 'A' Final, swimming the exact same time in the final as she did in the heat. Entries close at 5pm on 19th February. 2012 SA State Open & Multi-Class Long Course Championships - UPDATE (PM Session) James added a bronze medal in the Male 50m Breaststroke tonight to take his tally to one of each colour with the 100m Breaststroke still to come tomorrow. Shay Middlemiss narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing as 4th South Australian in the 50m Breaststroke. Makayla Ailmore, Tyler Zecchini and Luke Sugrue all raced in finals but did not improve on their times from the morning session. Click here for updated STARplex Results. 2012 SA State Open & Multi-Class Long Course Championships - UPDATE (AM Session) - Female 50m Breaststroke Shay Middlemiss has made the final of the 50m Breaststroke, finishing 8th in a time of 35.82. Well done to Kate Edwards also, who swam a long course PB time of 38.01. - Male 400m IM James McKechnie and Luke Sugrue have both qualified for the final of the 400m IM tonight with Tyler Zecchini as first SA reserve. Tyler swam a 9 second PB while Luke and James will be looking to get a PB in the final tonight. Tyler Zecchini's time of 5:23.39 for the 400m IM was 1.61 seconds under the 2012 Australian Age Championships qualifying time for his age group. He became the 4th STARplex swimmer to qualify for the championships to be held in Brisbane in April. - Female 100m Butterfly Makayla Ailmore booked her place in the 100m Butterfly final tonight in a time of 1:06.33. - Male 50m Breaststroke James has added the 50m Breaststroke to his races tonight after qualifying for the final. He will now hope to add two more medals to his tally of 1 gold and 1 silver so far with the 100m Breaststroke still to come on Sunday. - Female 50m Freestyle Makayla finished the morning off for STARplex by qualifying for the B Final of the Female 50m Freestyle in a time of 28.23.   Finalists for tonight: Female 50m Breaststroke - Shay Middlemiss Male 400m IM - James McKechnie, Luke Sugrue. Female 100m Butterfly - Makayla Ailmore Male 50m Breaststroke - James McKechnie Female 50m Freestyle - Makayla Ailmore Friday 27th January 2012: 2012 SA State Open & Multi-Class Long Course Championships - UPDATE (PM Session) Congratulations to James McKechnie - the 2012 Male Open 200m Breaststroke champion in a long course PB time of 2:23.02!! James finished as first South Australian behind Nicholas Schafer of River City Rapids, Brisbane. Later in the session, James swam the 200m IM final, finishing as second South Australian and fourth overall so gaining a silver medal. Makayla Ailmore swam a PB in the final of the 50m Backstroke while Shay Middlemiss took half a second off her time from the morning in the 100m Breaststroke. All entered names will be put into a hat and drawn, allocating them to different participating families. Once drawn you will be given your gift child's name and age in a sealed envelope. Gifts will be handed out during the Christmas Party - see above.   Marion Swimming Carnival 2011 - 27/11/2011 IMPORTANT NOTICE: There has been a change to the warm-up and start time of the Marion Swimming Carnival 2011. The warm-up will now take place at 10.30am with the first race beginning at 11am. This is different to what it is printed in the handbook. If you know of anyone who is attending this meet, let them know so that they do not arrive late! Entries for this meet have closed. Click here to see a list of STARplex swimmers who are attending.   Gawler Swimming Carnival 2011 - 26/11/2011 Entries for the Gawler Swimming Carnival 2011 on Saturday 26th November 2011 have now closed. The club have entered the best team possible into the annual Bunyip Shield Relay and we will be aiming to make it two in a row after the team of Ben Jackson, Stephen Alderton, Kya Grech and Connie Jackson took out gold ahead of Gawler and Henley & Grange earlier this year. Eight teams have also been entered into the 4x50m Freestyle Handicap Relay so be prepared for a relay swim on the day! As a result of the large number of swimmers attending this meet, there will be no Saturday morning training prior to the swimming carnival.   Broken Hill Swimming Carnival 2011 - 19-20/11/2011 Entries for the Broken Hill Swimming Carnival 2011 have now closed. Four swimmers will represent STARplex at this short course meet - Connie Jackson, Kya Grech, Nicki Jackson and Ben Jackson. A list of STARplex swimmers will be uploaded to the website after the closing date.   Waikerie Swimming Carnival 2011 - 17/12/2011 Four entries have been received so far for the final meet before Christmas - the Waikerie Swimming Carnival 2011 on Saturday 17th December 2011. Entries are due next Friday 25th November at 6pm using the Carnival Nomination Slip. If you are planning on attending this carnival, don't forget that the Christmas Party at Federation Park in Gumeracha begins at 10.30am the following day!   2012 SA State 18&U Long Course Championships - 03-06/01/2012 Following the second 'A' Grade meet and third 13&U JX Pentathlon meet, STARplex have 19 swimmers qualified for the upcoming 2012 SA State 18&U Long Course Championships at the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre from Tuesday 3rd January 2012 to Friday 6th January 2012. We also have a large number of swimmers who are within a few seconds of the qualifying times and are hoping to knock the final few seconds off at competitions between now and the closing date.
